Artist Statement

Beyond the more immediate art historical roots of my work in the Cubist, Constructivist, and Surrealistic movements is a sensibility in which everything one encounters in the visual realm is grist for absorption and sculptural transformation. The sculptures, drawings, and current wood panel paintings attempt to explore realms of the subconscious; it is the unknown that I am concerned with. The premise is that within one there are structures waiting to be excavated. The sculptures are like fossils — the imagination fossilized.
